About

The Engineering Division is responsible for the City's engineering, architectural and project management services. The division also oversees the functional areas of surveying, transportation and property management. Engineering recommends large-scale projects to the City Commission for contract award, including initiatives such as the replacement of seawalls, major renovation projects, the upgrading and replacement of utilities, neighborhood improvement projects, and the department's annual road resurfacing program. In addition, the division processes payments for construction and consultant services and coordinates operating budget expenses.

The Engineering Division administers the City's capital funds for general capital projects, water and sewer maintenance and repair, and stormwater management, while overseeing the use of grant funds for special projects. In addition, the division serves as a key support resource to other City departments, civic and homeowners associations in the design and implementation of capital improvement and neighborhood beautification programs.

Neighborhood Capital Improvement Program

The goal of the NCIP is to provide matching funds to neighborhood associations for the construction of capital improvement projects, which will enhance the overall quality of life in neighborhoods throughout the City. Examples of such projects include entranceways, neighborhood identification signs, and landscaping.
